What the Bible says about Islam
Historical introduction
In around 2100 BC, the one true God chose a man called Abram to commence an everlasting covenant between Himself and Israel, a nation still to be born.
Abram lived in Ur, which was inhabited by pagan idolaters who worshipped many gods, with one being the Moon god, Allah; his family was no exception to this idolatry (Josh. 24:2).
Israel, under King Josiah in 624 BC, would be forced to stamp out this pagan idolatry in Israel: “And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the hosts of heaven” (2 Kings 23:5).
The NIV study bible says the following of this verse: “The Hebrew noun used in v. 5 refers specifically to priests of foreign deities [pagan priests] (p. 383).
In Genesis 12:1-3 we read from the infallible word of God: “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.”
This divine calling to follow Elohiym was to be prompt and final. Abram was to leave this pagan land and follow the one true living God. Yet, as the Bible teaches continually, man is sinful and disobedient; Abram was no exception. Not only would Abram drag his heels whilst leaving Ur, but would go on to lie about his wife being his sister, and would cause Hagar, the Egyptian maidservant to conceive an illegitimate son, Ishmael. God, however, was still going to use Abram to create a great nation.
Then in Genesis 17:1-21 we read: “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations… And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.”
The Lord God affirms that Isaac, not Ishmael, was to inherit this Abrahamic Covenant, and subsequently his son, Jacob (Gen. 28:10-17). It would also be eternal and non-dependent on even believing on the Lord Jesus Christ being the Son of God (1 Chr. 16:17; Ps. 105:7-12; Is. 24:5).
Apostolic warning!
Islam, just like Mormonism, was born out of an ‘angelic visitation.’
In the case of Islam, a poor illiterate Arab living in the Middle East was to be the recipient. It is claimed, that for 23 years, God used Gabriel to communicate with Muhammad, and subsequently, this is how Muslims believe the Koran came to be.
Muhammad would no doubt have been aware of the apostolic warning, written by the apostle Paul, concerning anybody, who would dare present an alternative gospel to the world (2 Cor. 11:11-15). Such demonic activity was not to be tolerated in any manner whatsoever but was to be taught and exposed as being from the devil himself.
With a multitude of souls at stake, let us examine what the apostle said: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal. 1:8-9).
Please don’t underestimate just how serious Paul is when he reveals an eternal curse on anybody (human or angelic) who would stray from the truth of Christ (John 14:6), and lead souls away from God (Matt. 23:13-15). Tragically, Muhammad ignored this prophetic warning – with catastrophic consequences – and followed Joseph Smith of the Mormon religion to a very desolate eternity (Rev. 20:10-15).
Muhammad the Man (570-632 AD)
We are told by Islamic tradition that Muhammad was born in 570 AD, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Muhammad’s father, Abdullah, died two months after he was born. His mother, Aminah, died when he was just six. His grandfather, Abd-al-Muttalib would raise him. However his grandfather died when he was eight, therefore his uncle, Abu Talib became his guardian for the remainder of his youth. (Again all of this is according to Islamic tradition and therefore is impossible to validate outside of Koranic authority).
During Muhammad’s teenage years, up until the age of twenty-five, his vocation was that of a poor shepherd boy.
Muhammad alleged that the angel Gabriel visited him when he was only three and gave him a new heart, all sin was later drained from him. However, references in the Koran have him being told by his god to ‘repent’ on several occasions.
He claimed to have descended from Ishmael.
Believed in reincarnation (see Heb. 9:27).
Claimed to have once been married to Mary, the mother of the Lord Jesus.
In Robert Morey’s book, Islamic Invasion, p 72, he states that Muhammad tried to commit suicide on Mount Hira.
On 8 June 632 AD he died, however, some believe he was poisoned.
Each year millions of Muslims visit his tomb, where they wail and mourn for their founder. They have no hope whatsoever of his resurrection.
Please note, however, the following verse from the Koran, which does state a bodily resurrection: “And peace be on me, the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life again” (Qur’an 19:22-33).
Muhammad the ‘prophet’
Muhammad claimed that Gabriel had appeared to him while praying in a cave. Within three years of this ‘angelic visitation,’ Muhammad started to preach his new Islamic gospel. Ten years later, he had only accumulated sixty to seventy converts, and these included his wife, his cousin, his uncle, a slave, and some close friends. Initially, Muhammad and his followers were mocked and ostracised, but it was in Medina in 622 AD that Muhammad had a better reception (John Bagot Glubb, The Empire of the Arabs, 1963).
In Joseph Dahmus’ book, The Middle Ages: A Popular History, he states the following concerning Muhammad’s early years, and the rejection of Jewish rabbis for his prophetic claims: “The majority of Muhammad’s first converts were men below the age of forty, who’s motives for accepting his gospel ranged from sincere religious conviction to the hope of material and political gain to strengthen Muhammad’s position and to inaugurate himself with the Jews he directed his followers to turn to Jerusalem when they prayed. He had introduced a fast to correspond with the Hebrew Day of Atonement and he designated Friday when the Jews were preparing for the Sabbath as the holiest day of the week; he was ridiculed by the rabbis for his ignorance of the Scriptures.”
He would go on to replace the Day of Atonement with Ramadan and announced that it was to Abraham, who he said was not a Jew, whom God had given the true religion.
During Ramadan, the faithful will abstain from food, drink and sexual relations between dawn and sunset. They are also expected to control their tongue and temper (What is Islam: a Holistic Vision, 2006).
“Each time Muhammad received a revelation he would suffer physical symptoms, like heavy sweating or go into a trance-like state. He reported that he frequently felt as if he was going to have his soul snatched away. Many of those who rejected belief in what was happening to the prophet accused him of being mad, or suffering from a disease, such as epilepsy” (Ruqaiyyah Maqsood, Teach Yourself World Faiths).
Historical accounts of Muhammad’s seizures describe him as being agitated, with perspiration, which poured down his face. He would fall to the ground and foam at the mouth, like a mad dog with rabies. Sometimes when inspiration came upon him, he felt as if it were like the painful sounding of a loud bell.
The Christian writer, Ron Rhodes, offered the following:
“Muhammad was initially quite unsure as to the source of his revelation. He thought it possible that a demonic spirit might possess him. It was his wife, Khadija, who convinced him that Allah, was speaking through him and who encouraged him to be obedient to the revelations. This does not sound like a true prophet of God. Khadija made no claims to be a prophetess, so how did she know?”
John Ankerberg and John Weldon also state the following:
“Muhammad’s inspiration and religious experiences are remarkably similar to those found in some form of spiritism. Shamanism, for example, is notorious for fostering periods of mental disruption as well as spirit possession. Significantly Muhammad experienced Shamanlike encounters and phenomena. Further, many authorities have noted that spirit possession frequently leads to the kinds of experiences that Muhammad had.”
His adoptive mother believed he was devil-possessed.
He announced he had spoken to other prophets from the past, including Jesus, Moses, and Abraham.
He claimed he was woken from sleep and taken by a miraculous beast to Jerusalem. From the site of the old Jewish Temple on Mount Zion, a way was opened for him through the heavens until he approached the Throne of God, in a region which even he and the angel Gabriel, who was accompanying him, were not allowed to enter (Ruqaiyyah Maqsood, Teach Yourself World Faiths).
Apparently, during this heavenly visit, God gave Muhammad the divine ritual for prayers. To this day, millions of Muslims follow this creed.
It should be pointed out to the reader that some Muslim scholars actually dispute this account as being literal.
Maulana Muhammad Ali, Islam’s greatest scholar, explains that the seven heavens which Muhammad alleged to have seen, could, be just a large number or even possibly three (2 Cor. 12:1).
Ali further goes on to declare that Muhammad saw nothing at all while being ‘taken’ to heaven.
It may also be of interest to the reader, that the eternal city, Jerusalem is never mentioned once in the Koran!
In the Bible, Jerusalem is mentioned directly 2301 times. In the Koran, the word Israel is mentioned 44 times. My conclusion would be that the God of the Bible is far more interested in the land of Israel than the god of the Koran.
Muhammad, after many victorious battles, increased his prestige; subsequently, his fame soared and more converts were added to his new movement. By 630 AD Muhammad had a following of ten thousand. However, much violence was used to launch the birth of this new religion.
Muhammad stated it was the duty of all Muslims to fight against all unbelievers. (More on this later).
Muhammad made numerous references to the Scriptures (both Testaments) showing that he did not regard them as having been corrupted or abrogated by the Koran.
In Von Kreme’s book, The Orient under the Caliphs, he states the following: “As a prophet and reformer of his people Muhammad could not be otherwise than a revolutionary; for his religious propaganda introduced not only a complete change in the political situation but also had an equally important bearing on the social conditions. For his followers, he was all in all (emphasis added). He remained ever true to the principle, set up by him, of the equality and close brotherhood of all Muslims.”
Please also see what Ockle wrote in History of the Saracens: “With the Koran in one hand and the Scimitar (short Oriental sword) in the other, the impetuous and indomitable Arab achieved a series of splendid victories, unparalleled in the history of the nations. For in the short space of eighty years, that mighty range of Saracenic conquest embraced a wider extant territory that Rome had mastered in the course of eight hundred years.”
Interestingly, Muhammad never appointed a successor to replace him after his death, many Arabs and followers simply fell away. This revolt in the Islamic world is known as ‘the Great Apostasy.’
In 632 AD Muhammad died in Medina, possibly by poisoning or pneumonia.
Muhammad the husband
At twenty-five, he married a rich forty-year-old woman. They had six children, four girls and two boys.
Both sons died in infancy. He would go on to marry another eleven times and have two concubines. Two of his wives were Jewish, one was a Christian. However, one six-year-old Aisha would later become his infamous bride, when she was only nine, he was fifty-two! He would also marry his adopted son’s wife.
“The Prophet was engaged to me when I was a girl six years old…I was playing in a swing with some of my girlfriends… Unexpectedly Allah’s Apostle came to me in the afternoon, and my mother handed me over to him. At that time I was a girl of nine years of age” (The Hadith, Bukhari Vol. V, No. 234, Narrated Aisha).
“The Prophet….married Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age and consummated that marriage when she was nine years old” (Bukhari Vol. V, No. 236).
Many writers believe Muhammad was a misogynist at heart, who only used women for sexual gratification.
In the Old Testament, the prophet Daniel wrote about a coming antichrist, which some believe to be Muhammad: “Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all” (Dan. 11:37).
The reader can easily see how Muhammad is a type of the final antichrist, not only from Daniel but also from the NT: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist” (1 John 4:1-3).
Islamic literature also offers the reader information about his hatred of women: The Prophet said, “I was shown the hellfire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful” (The Hadith, Bukhari Vol. I, No. 28).
Allah’s Apostle…said, “O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of hell-fire were you, women…I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you” (Bukhari Vol. I, No. 301).
The Prophet then said…”I also saw the hellfire, and I had never seen such a horrible sight. I saw that most of the inhabitants were women” (Bukhari Vol. II, No. 161).
Some scholars state Muhammad had sixteen wives, two concubines and four lovers (Twenty-Three Years: A Study of the Prophetic Career of Muhammad, 1985).

- Sawda 13. Asma (of Saba)
- Aesha 14. Zaynab (of Khozayma)

Interestingly, the Koran only allows men to have four wives!
Beliefs
Red = Muslim
Black = Biblical Christianity
Allah, the south Arabian moon god, is a monotheist (Alfred Guillaume, Islam, 1954).
In the Old Testament God has many names: Elohiym, Adonai, El Shaddai, Jehovah, Yahweh and El-Olam. However, His eternal name is I AM (Ex. 3:14).
Jesus Christ said in John 8:58 that He was the “I AM.” This part of Scripture not only points to the Trinity but also to the deity of Christ. (More on this later).
It must also be understood that the word Allah does not mean Almighty God in the Judeo-Christian understanding. Allah is one of 365 4th-century pagan deities, which was picked up by Muhammad and incorporated into his new movement (Robert Morey, The Islamic Invasion).
Many Middle Eastern Muslims do not know of this. Furthermore and much more worryingly, some Arabic Bibles have replaced the word Jehovah for Allah. This is blasphemy and very dangerous!
Jesus is no more than a glorified prophet or messenger of Allah (Sura 2:136).
As with all false religions, the true character and nature of the Lord Jesus Christ are heavily camouflaged. The apostle Paul had no doubt in his mind just who the Lord Jesus is when he wrote his epistle in Philippians 2:10,11: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Jesus, in His full majestic glory, will be worshipped by all of His creation in the presence of His Father and His Church.
Also, the apostle John recorded these inspired words from the Lord Himself: “I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death” (Rev. 1:18).
And may I quote the Koran itself, to show the deity of Christ.
The account of the birth of Jesus is recorded in Sura 19:19: “He said, “I am the messenger of your Lord, to grant you a pure son.”
Now, the Arabic word for pure or righteous is (afeefah), which means in English faultless, holy, sinless, and as only God is sinless, one doesn’t need to be a scholar to see that Muhammad correctly understood Jesus to be God.
For further irritable evidence as to the true nature of the Lord Jesus Christ and who He claimed to be, please see our article Who is Jesus Christ?
They deny that Jesus was ever crucified. Muhammad said that Jesus never died for anybody (Sura 4:157). Amazingly the Koran is silent on when the Lord did eventually die and where He was buried! However, there is a shrine, in Srinagar, Kashmir, where Muslims allege, Jesus is buried.
There are two problems with this statement. First, numerous secular and non-Christian archaeologists, historians, and even the Jewish Talmud acknowledge that Jesus Christ did actually die on a Roman cross, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, on 14 Nisan 30 AD.
Also, Josephus, a first-century Roman historian, who wrote The Antiquities of the Jews, says the following: “He [Christ] won over to Him many Jews and Gentiles and when Pilate at the suggestion of the principal men among us had condemned Him to the cross, those who had loved Him first did not forsake Him.”
The Roman historian, Tacitus, wrote the following: “Their originator [Christ] had been executed in the reign of Tiberius by the governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate.”
With such an abundance of information to affirm this, the Koran is totally nullified.
Thirdly and much more importantly than any of the above sources, the word of God speaks in over 20 passages in the Old and New Testaments that the Messiah would suffer and then die for the sins of the world. In Psalm 22:16 we read the following Messianic prophecy, written one thousand years before Jesus was born, and before the Roman Empire’s barbaric crucifixion even existed:
“They pierced my hands and my feet.”
Please also see Is. 53:5; Zec. 12:10; Matt. 27:44; Mark 15:25; Luke 24:20; John 19:23; Acts 2:36; 4:10. There are many other passages of Scripture that speak of His crucifixion, death, and resurrection.
They refer to Him as the Son of Mary (Sura 4:157). [Muslims pay Mary great respect. Once a year Muslims visit Catholic churches and will pray before Marian shrines].
The reader may be interested to know that the title Son of Mary only ever appears in the New Testament once, and that can be found in Mark 6:3. His correct and eternal title, Son of God, appears in over 40 places (Luke 22:70; John 1:18).
Deuteronomy 18:15 is used to teach that Muhammad was the prophet foretold in the Holy Bible.
But when one reads Deuteronomy 18:15, we discover the following problem for Muslims: “The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.”
Please note the following points from this messianic prophecy, which unequivocally proves that Muhammad is not the prophet that Moses is speaking of.
- a) From your midst, from your brethren. What midst is Moses speaking of? Israel. Who are his brethren? One of the twelve tribes of Israel (Mic. 5:2). Therefore He would have to be Jewish.
- b) Him shall you hear. Jesus said: “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
No Old Testament prophet ever appealed to his Jewish audience with words like this. Whenever a prophet of God spoke, he would only declare God’s word, never his own.
The Scripture repeatedly echoes the reaction and shock of the multitudes in each of the Gospels, when reacting to how He spoke and what He taught (Matt. 7:28-29; 13:54; Mark 1:22; Luke 4:36).
Please note that Jewish rabbis of Jesus’ day would only quote one another; they would never allow their own authority to influence the Jews of their day. Jesus totally dismantled this Babylonian doctrine and taught as one who had divine authority, because He is divine (Phil. 2:6).
They deny the Trinity (Sura 5:75), and teach that Muhammad is the Holy Spirit.
In John 14:16 Jesus promised to send another Comforter like Himself to the Church, that being the Holy Spirit. There are two Greek words for another.
The first is allos, the second is heteros. Allos means, another of exactly the same kind, and heteros means another of a different kind. Therefore, the Greek word used of the Holy Spirit, in all texts, is allos; the same kind, God Almighty, the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9).
If Muhammad claimed that he was the Holy Spirit (that being the third member of the Godhead), then he has made himself God, and no man is equal to God. Also, Islam teaches there is only one God. Therefore, this rather embarrassing and heretical contradiction needs clarifying from the world of Islam!
Another problem with this erroneous view is the fact that Muhammad died. The Bible tells us that the Comforter is eternal (Heb. 9:14); that He is God (Acts 5:4), and that he was to guide the Church, not Islam into all truth (John 16:13). He would also testify about Jesus Christ alone, never Muhammad or anybody else (John 15:26).
Just because somebody claims to be the third Person of the Godhead, doesn’t make this so. Mary Baker Eddy also thought she was the Holy Spirit, but she too died, and was buried with a phone in her coffin! Adolph Hitler had the Lord’s Prayer re-written for him, but he too died.
(For more information on the Trinity, please see our statement of faith).
Many Suras speak of God’s love, but none speak of God loving the undeserving or the unrighteous as a merciful God would do. God loveth not those who do wrong (Sura 3:57).
In Matthew’s Gospel, the Lord Jesus said the following: “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (5:43-48).
This segment of the Holy Scripture is called common grace. God loves all His creation and takes great interest in what goes on in His earth. The Lord God of the Bible is a personal, loving, compassionate, sensitive, and yes, judgmental and punishing God.
“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth” (Heb. 12:6.)
Tragically, the god of the Koran seems to have little or no interest in ‘his creation’ or ‘his children.’
Sura 5:41: The Jews are people who will listen to any lie. Christians are enemies (Sura 5:14). No true Muslim is to befriend Christians or Jews (Sura 5:51).
Anti-Semitism and anti-Christianity have sadly long existed.
The Bible makes it abundantly clear that salvation has always been via the Jews (John 4:22).
The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 11:1: “I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.”
Further on Paul would write: “And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee” (Rom. 11:17-21).
It should be clear for all to see that Paul is teaching that if Israel falls, the Church falls, and if the Church falls, Jesus has failed; this we know will never happen.
Therefore, God will sustain Israel until His Son returns, and then a third of all Israel will be saved (Zach. 13:9).
The Koran states that forgiveness of sin depends on so-called good deeds that outweigh evil deeds. [This is rather similar to how the catholic church understands and teaches salvation].
This teaching couldn’t be further from the truth found in the Holy Scriptures.
In Galatians 2:16 we read: “For by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.”
Time and time again, God has revealed that man cannot be saved by His own works, but by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-10).
The Koran seems to teach, however, that sinful men will one day be able to stand in front of their god and enter Islamic paradise.
In Matthew’s Gospel 22:1-14, the Lord Jesus Christ clearly affirmed this will not be so: “And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.”
The meaning of this parable is simple: the king represents God the Father, who has sent out the gospel first to the children of Israel. Sinful men have killed His messengers and also His beloved Son, so by this stage, the general call to salvation has gone out to Gentiles as well. Many respond, but one man has the audacity to stand in the presence of the King, in his own filthy righteousness (Is. 64:6; Luke 5:8).
This is seen as a great affront to the Lord. He has already provided the garments (imputed righteousness), so there was no excuse for this person to stand in the King’s presence, clothed with his own filthy garments. Yet this is precisely what the Koran teaches concerning Muslims and their salvation.
The Christian message of salvation, however, is this: the sinner is given Christ’s perfect divine righteousness when he is born again. This righteousness is not of his own (Rom. 4:4-5). The sinner is now clothed with His Saviour’s splendid and eternal righteousness. and this is what God the Father will look at for all eternity. Clearly, salvation in the Bible and the Koran are not the same.
Muhammad said that the Koran was sent to confirm the Bible. Yet they also teach in Sura 2:75, that the Holy Bible is called ‘The Word of God.’
Well, the latter is certainly correct, but the former cannot possibly be so. Any serious Bible or Koran student will know straight away that both books are very different, and that the Holy Bible is far superior in accuracy, i.e., geologically, scientifically, historically, and prophetically.
When the apostle John penned his book of Revelation, he quoted the Lord Jesus: “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” (22:18-19).
The Bible was finished and completed in 96 AD. No other book, author, poet or scholar is needed. It is finished!!
In the paradise of the Koran, it tells of enjoyments of wine and woman (Sura 7:90). It may be of interest to the reader that jihad and its afterlife rewards are not literal, but spiritual. Maulana Muhammad Ali, an Arabian Muslim Scholar, reveals this shattering truth. Therefore, according to Ali, all of the suicide bombers in Israel, (9/11), Bali, Africa, Madrid, and 7/7, not only died in vain but also will never receive their ‘virgin brides.’ This may explain why most sensible Muslims don’t carry out their jihad?
Interestingly, nothing is mentioned of the fellowship or eternal worship of Allah. In the Bible, Jews (Old Testament saints) and Christians (New Testament saints) are pictured worshipping God for all eternity and throwing their crowns at King Jesus’ feet (Rev. 4:10).
Later in Revelation 22:15, we read: “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without [outside] are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”
Such antics as the above will not be tolerated in front of a Holy God. Yet sadly the god of the Koran seems to be quite content with such immorality.
According to some Muslims, heaven is a parable, and hell is a metaphor; it’s not a literal place of torment, nor is it eternal; it is similar to the non-biblical doctrine of catholic purgatory. Yet strangely Muhammad thought that he would need to spend some time in hell/purgatory before entering his Islamic paradise (Sura 19:71-72).
The late French diver, Jacques Cousteau once told how he heard screaming voices coming from beneath the seabed of Cuba. Of course, the secular website, Snopes has long tried hard to “refute this.”
Biblical scholars have long believed that Hell is deep under the earth. One can only shudder when contemplating what Cousteau heard!
The Lord Jesus Christ spoke of Hell and its eternal torment more times than the joys of eternal bliss in Heaven. Unfortunately, false religions dismiss the realities of Hell and subsequently make Jesus a liar (Matt. 8:12; 13:42-50; 24:51; Mark 9:24; Luke 13.28).
Also by perverting the Holy Scriptures, souls are lost for all eternity.
Jesus’ graphic and terrifying portrayal of Hell is recorded in each of the gospels, and for a reason: man needs to know that his un-confessed sin will be punished if he refuses to put it to Christ’s account. God has only ever sent one Saviour, Jesus Christ.
When Christ died on the cross, He took all our sins on Himself (2 Cor. 5:21).
When a sinner calls on the Lord and trusts in Jesus for salvation, he receives the Lord’s imputed righteousness (Rom. 4:5).
The god of the Koran is totally unknowable!
Jesus, the image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15) showed affection towards His disciples, His followers, unbelievers, and even His crucifiers. The God of the Bible is very knowable, and very loving (John 3:16-18).
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found; Call ye upon him while he is near” (Is. 55:6.)
Women are the weaker vessels. She is not man’s equal, nor his companion, but exists for his pleasure; beat them lightly (Sura. 4:34).
It may be of interest to the reader that Charles Darwin taught this very same thing. Darwin declared that women were inferior to men and that the white race was superior to all others. Is this chauvinistic discrimination taught in today’s universities, I wonder??
Women in the Bible have always been given a special role within God’s plan for man. When Christ rose from the dead on the third day, the first person He appeared to was Mary Magdalene (John 20:11).
I believe this was done to remove the stigma that women had long lived with since the fall/deception of Eve (2 Cor. 11:3).
All are now equal in the eyes of God (Gal. 3:28.)
More facts on Islam
It is estimated that there are about 1.3 billion Muslims worldwide, approximately 29% of the world’s population.
One out of every five persons on earth is a Muslim.
There are 250 million Muslims in the Middle East, within 21 nations. Israel, the only real democratic state in the region, is only six million strong.
Arabs make up only 18% of the world’s Muslim population (What is Islam: a Holistic Vision, 2006).
Less than 15% of Muslims live in the Arab world; a fifth are found in sub-Saharan Africa, and the world’s largest Muslim country is Indonesia.
Substantial parts of Asia, and almost all the Central Asian republics are Muslim.
Significant Muslim minorities are found in China, India, Russia, Europe, the United States, and South America (Discover Islam, 2005).
Faithful Muslims must pray five times a day, facing Mecca (Sura 2:150). Every Muslim at least once in their life must attend Mecca. This area is strictly off-limits to non-Muslims. During both Iraq wars, allied warplanes were forbidden to fly over this area.
Faithful Muslims are expected to give 2.5% of their wage to the poor, without anybody knowing.
Reasons for Islamic growth: financial support and mass marriages. Their religion is rational, universal, simple comprehensive and easy to obey one. Many times when family members have converted to Christianity, relatives will not only condone of their public stoning but will lead the stoning themselves. Islam is a way of life. It encompasses the cultural, economic, political, social, and religious dimensions.
More black men from the UK and US are turning to Islam, than any other religion.
King Hussein I, on black September in 1970, murdered 20,000 Palestinians, yet little was said in the secular press and Islamic world.
Further atrocities like this have occurred in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Kuwait; with Muslims killing Muslims.
Everybody has two angels. One records good deeds, the other bad deeds.
75% of Muslim women suffer from genital mutilation. This brutal act is very painful and many times conducted against their consent. Sexual relations with their husbands will forevermore be extremely sensitive. Women have no rights and are treated as third-class citizens. The Koran teaches that women are primarily here to please their husbands (women are only allowed one husband) and to bear children. Many women die each year in Islamic countries under the control of their tyrant husbands. Prosecutions against such acts are very rare there and in the UK too. Also when divorces occur, the husband nearly always keeps the children, while the wife retains nothing.
In the UK alone, there have been several high-profile ‘honour killings.’ One account recently made the news, when a Muslim father murdered his daughter to stop her from marrying a non-Muslim man.
In Algeria, 29 Muslim women were executed for not wearing their veils.
There are more Muslims in Britain than Plymouth Brethren, Methodists and Baptists combined. (Please note that Saudi Arabia personally finances the enormous costs of building their global mosques. Yet nowhere in Saudi Arabia does a single church or synagogue exist!)
In Michigan, USA, Muslim mosques have been granted legal permission to broadcast their call to prayer, even though local non-Muslims tried to ban it, citing noise pollution (Times Newspaper, 1/5/04).
The London Economist said the following, on the wealth of Islamic countries: “They could purchase the Bank of America in just six days; IBM Corporation in forty-three days and all major world companies that are on the stock market, in fifteen years.”
There are 200,000 Christian refugees in East Timor.
Jihad, every Muslim duty!
50,000 non-Muslims have been murdered in Southern Philippines, in recent years.
In Saudi Arabia, a 15-year-old boy was publicly hung for his Christian faith.
Christmas Eve, 2003, a Christian was publicly stoned to death in Basra, Iraq, under the watchful eye of British soldiers. Why? Because he too, was a Christian (Saturday Times, 3 January 2004).
(I wrote to the then British Defence Secretary about this murder, but I never received a response).
In the Saturday Times, 28 August 2004, a 26-year-old Pakistani Christian, was tortured to death by Pakistani police in Saddar.
Muslim youths have also demonstrated in Trafalgar Square against the institution of democracy, demanding that Britain adopt the Islamic system of government.
In 2012, the British Government finally deported the Egyptian-born cleric, Abu Hamza to the US. Press reports claim he has Al-Quada links and some have even obtained secret recordings of him inciting and encouraging suicide bombers within the UK.
Abu Bakr (Muhammad’s favourite father-in-law) taught that the only assurance of salvation was to be shaheed; this is a Muslim who dies killing infidels in ajihad – he becomes an instant martyr, and 72 black-haired female virgins await him. Upon this act, the suicide bomber/martyr can then vouch for the admittance of 70 members of his family to enter heaven. However, this now seems symbolic, not literal (Ali.) One wonders what female bombers receive!
Some people have said that Muslims, who are martyred for their faith, are no different than the Christians from the early church, which was martyred for their faith. Two things should be said to this:
1) The early church never killed themselves or others for not converting to their religion. They were killed for not worshipping foreign and pagan gods. Also, their death was not based on a blind faith but was founded on the fact that they had personally seen the risen Christ and talked with Him.
2) Muslims today have never seen Allah or their prophet, so their faith is a blind one.
Interesting how Muslims send their sons to die for Allah when God sent His only begotten Son to die for the sins of the world (John 1:29).
The late Yasser Arafat once said: “Peace for us means the destruction of Israel.”
In Arafat’s Palestine (he was an Egyptian Muslim) children are taught that it is their sole duty to kill all Jews if they ever wish to enter Islamic paradise. (While he was quick to call on his own people to send their sons to die for Allah, he never once sent his own sons to die for Allah). This brainwashing starts in junior school. If this happened in the West, welfare officers would be called in, and these vulnerable children would be taken straight into care. For detailed evidence of this, please see Peter Ruckman’s book A Piece of Dirt. Photographs of children using guns, grenades, and automatic weapons are seen as the norm. On 24 March 2004, a 16-year-old boy with learning difficulties was manipulated into murdering innocent Jews, however thankfully for him, Israeli soldiers noticed him acting suspiciously and were able to save his life and others by detonating the bomb. After his fortunate escape, his sister, being interviewed on ITV News, spoke about his heroism and how she would love to one day be a suicide bomber herself. Yet her mother had more sense than both her children, for she said that this terrorist group who had put her son up to this cowardly attack, should themselves die for their beliefs.
Ruckman in his book states how it is the duty of every Muslim in Palestine to kill all Jews who don’t leave. However, it may be of interest to the reader that the Koran states that Allah promised to give Palestine to the Jews (Sura 7:129; 7:161; 5:21;17:104). And this is also echoed by Muslim Professor, Khaleel Mohammad, who lectures at the San Diego State University in America when he addressed the second Jerusalem Summit. He told his audience: “The Holy Land belongs to the Jews and not to the Moslems,” his text was from the Koran to prove this (Sura 5:21).
The Catholic church has long supported the Palestinians ‘struggle’ and desire to ‘retain’ all the land for themselves.
Post 9/11, there have been some horrific terrorist acts:
The Washington Sniper, John Allen Muhammad, with his young accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo. Both Muslim men carried out their joint jihad. They killed between them, 10 people. Muhammad was sentenced to death in October 2004. Malvo was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Islamic fundamentalists murdered over 200 people in Bali.
Over 800 Russians were taken hostage while enjoying a night out at the theatre; tragically 120 died when Russian forces tried to rescue them.
Such atrocities occurred on three separate continents; terrorism knows no boundaries!
7/7/05, London, England: four suicide bombers commit murder, resulting in the death of over 50 people. Politicians of all persuasions are quickly assembled to denounce this evil and twisted interpretation of Islam, yet as we have already seen, Muhammad and his father-in-law both advocated this type of terrorism, and if one needs further evidence of this, they ought to visit Islamic nations, and enquire how non-Muslims are treated there.
The former Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, who for decades sympathized with terror groups around the world, condemned the suicide attacks in the city. Yet in 2004, he welcomed the controversial Egyptian Islamic preacher, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who himself justifies terrorist attacks in Israel. Such utter hypocrisy!
On the 14th of July 2005, the bishop of London, Richard Chartres, while sharing a platform with Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, Jonathan Sacks, chief Rabbi, a Hindu, and a Muslim, told 16,000 people who had attended a vigil in Trafalgar Square, that ‘false religions’ were to blame for London’s terrorist attacks! The ecumenical movement/great apostasy is truly underway (1 Tim. 4:1-2).
Yet what interested me was how these two ‘Christian leaders’, never once mentioned the Lord Jesus Christ, the need for repentance, the new birth, and the second coming. I must wonder why were they there, if not to be ambassadors for Christ.
Yet the head of the Muslim association for Great Britain opened his tribute in Arabic and praised his god and Muhammad.
The democratically elected politician from Holland, Geert Wilders was refused entry into the UK, even though he had been invited by several members of the House of Lords to give a public screening of his latest film Fitna, while an Ethiopian and alleged terrorist, Binyam Mohamed was allowed to return to the UK, after being held in Guantanamo Bay, since 2004, even though he is not a British national.
Also, numerous atrocities and genocide occur in Sudan, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Kuwait. This mostly goes unnoticed and unreported by the worldwide media.
The only reason why some Muslims commit such barbaric acts of terror must be because they have no concept or assurance of salvation, whether it is for Muhammad or Bin Laden (Sura 19:71-72).
22/5/13, Woolwich, England: with the dreadful public execution of an unarmed and off-duty British soldier on the streets of London, and with the same old politically correct message coming from ignorant politicians and apostate Christians, about how ‘Islam is a religion of peace,’ blah, blah, blah, one can only wonder if this latest Islamic attack from British born fanatics will deteriorate into something much more serious. And if it does, will the powers that be have the stomach and backbone to deal with this?
Questions for Muslims?
If Muhammad was ‘greater’ than Jesus, why didn’t he perform the kind of miracles that Jesus, Moses, and Paul did? It may be of interest to the reader that Muhammad never performed a single miracle during his entire ‘ministry.’
Jesus, as God incarnate, forgave people their sins (Matt. 9:6); walked on water (Matt. 14:25); raised the dead (Luke 7:14); happily received worship (Matt. 9:18), and made several prophecies concerning judgment and destruction in the last and final days (Matt. 7:21-23; Luke 21:6).
Why didn’t Muhammad ever offer sacrifices to Allah?
Why were all mosques for nearly 200 years pointing towards Petra and not Mecca?
Bible facts
Muslims will often state that the Koran has never been altered and is still in its original form. In Ron Rhode’s book, Reasoning from the Scriptures, he says the following: “However, historical sources prove there were several different texts circulating in Syria, Armenia and Iraq prior to the final revision produced by Uthman.
Muhammad’s long-time secretary, Zaid, was called in by Uthman to oversee the final and definitive authorised version of the Koran. All other copies of the Koran were then burned so there could be no challenge to the authorised text. Why would Caliph Uthman produce an authorised version of the Koran if the Koran had been perfectly preserved from the beginning?”
The Psalmist said the following: “Thy word is true from the beginning” (Ps. 119:160).
The Scripture has continually proven to be 100% accurate, i.e., with archaeological digs, which are also recognised by extra-biblical accounts. Numerous scholars (secular and religious) affirm that the Bible, as we have it today, is 99.9% accurate when translated or revised.
Ruckman says the following about this: “The Koran had only one writer, completing his work in less than thirty years, whereas the Bible had over forty writers writing two thousand years apart and writing on three continents. Collusion between the various writers of the Bible would be impossible; collusion between Muhammad and himself would certainly be a possibility, one will have to admit” (The History of the New Testament Church, Vol. 1, p. 319).
The reader may also be interested to know that there are four Koran manuscripts, with two being found to be dated over 100 years after the death of Muhammad, and neither of these match the other.
On the other hand, there are 5,664 Greek New Testament manuscripts, with 20,000 Latin, Ethiopic, Slavic, and Armenian New Testament manuscripts in circulation to this present day. So if every Bible in the world were to be lost, we could still rebuild the Bible, with the 85,000 Scriptural verses that the early Church leaders sent to one another. In their letters, they quote every passage in the New Testament, except for 8 verses. However, the same cannot be said of other so-called holy books, i.e., the Koran etc.
I must also share with the reader the fact that it took over a hundred years after the death of Muhammad for the Koran to be written, and in addition to that, the writers that compiled the final Koran did so based on oral tradition. Yet, on the other hand, the whole of the New Testament was written down and passed around between 39-95 AD, just 9-60 years after Jesus had died and ascended back to heaven.
One final comment must be said about authenticating Muhammad and his Koran: when Muhammad claimed to have met Gabriel in a cave, there were no witnesses present to affirm this, therefore his ‘prophetic’ claim is impossible to validate. And with no public miracles either to certify his office as ‘prophet,’ why should anybody then or now take him seriously?
The Bible, therefore, is completely in a league of its own. No other Book has inspired multitudes of missionaries to travel thousands of miles and even sacrifice their own lives, for the good of God’s Kingdom!
Major sects of Islam
There are three groups that makeup Islam. The first is the Sunnis. In the Middle East Sunnis comprise 90% of all Muslims. This group believed that Muhammad’s successor should be elected.
The second group are the Shiites. They believe that a descendant must come through Muhammad’s bloodline. They also believe the Muslim “Jesus” will return and lead a conquest of the world for the Shiite version of Islam.
The third group is the Nation of Islam. This movement is exclusively for black people only. However, mainstream Muslims frown upon them and declare them to be ‘heretics.’
Louis Abdul Farrakhan now heads this movement. His notorious hatred of Jews and whites is well known to all. He once said: “Hitler was a wickedly great man” (Time, 28/2/94.) I doubt Farrakhan would have lasted five minutes in Hitler’s Nazi Europe. However, he is not without controversy within his own movement, for Malcolm Xs’ widow, claimed he was involved in her husband’s murder (Marsh, From Black, p. 94-95).
Confusion or deliberate ignorance?
The “Jesus” of the Koran is not the Jesus of the Holy Bible. The tragic thing is a lot of professing Christians believe that He is.
In 2003 George W. Bush and Tony Blair, both agreed in a joint press conference in London, that they believed the God of the Bible is the same as the god of the Koran.
On the 24th March 2006, Tony Blair gave a passionate speech to the ‘Foreign Policy Centre,’ titled, “Not a Clash between civilisations, but a clash about civilisation.”
The following transcript is taken from the English Churchman, 26th May and 2nd June 2006: “The most remarkable thing about reading the Koran [he read it for the first time after 9/11] – in so far as it can be truly translated from the original Arabic is to understand how progressive it is. I speak with great diffidence and humility as a member of another faith [Roman catholic now.] I am not qualified to make any judgments [yes you can, see John 7:24; 1 Thess. 5:21.] But as an outsider, the Koran strikes me as a reforming book, trying to return Judaism and Christianity to their origins [no religion can do this, nor is it needed], rather as [the] reformers attempted with the Christian Church centuries later. It is practical and way ahead of its time in attitudes to marriage, women and governance” [please see the Hadith Bukhari vol. v, no. 234 Narrated Aisha.]
Mr. Blair, according to the Churchman, thought Islam’s growth and grip on Christian nations were “breathtaking.”
The transcript continues: “Over the centuries it founded an Empire, leading the world in discovery, art and culture. We look back to the early Middle Ages, the standard bearers of tolerance [not sure this is true] at the time were far more likely to be found in Muslim lands than in Christian.”
So if the world’s top politicians (even those that claim to be ‘Christian’) believe that Allah and Jehovah are the same, is it any wonder that there is so much misinformation out there. And as I have already shown, when Anglican and Catholic leaders also go out of their way to ‘uphold’ this politically correct gospel, it is very clear indeed, that we are living in the last days and Jesus’ return for His true people won’t be long now.
I am ‘a good person!’
There are many religions in the world today. However, that can quickly be narrowed down to just two. One of them is called self-salvation, where the individual becomes their own ‘saviour.’ And this now puts them in competition with Jesus, who Himself claimed to be the only Saviour of the world. So the sinner/’saviour’ will boldly proclaim: ‘I live a good life; I go to church; I follow the commandments; I follow the golden rule; I love my neighbour; I do the best I can; I don’t do this bad thing and I don’t do that bad thing.’
The other religion is Bible-believing Christianity, in which the sinner is invited to accept the gospel of Christ, where God became a Man (John 1:14; 1 Tim. 3:16); came looking for that which was lost (Luke 19:10); died a substitutionary death; and by our faith alone in His precious blood, we are saved (Heb. 10:18; 1 Pet. 1:18-19). He later rose from the dead (Rom. 10:9) and is now seated next to the Father (Heb. 10:12).
And to further help explain these two different ideologies, may I quote the following, from a small, but helpful book by Godfrey Robinson and Stephen Winward, Here is the Answer, 1949, p. 72-73: “If we [the writers] may misquote but apply the substance of Paul’s words: ‘What fellowship has a religion of grace [Christianity] with a religion of merit [Islam]? Or what is there in common between the way of the descending God and the ways of ascending man? We have here not only the real distinction between Christianity and all other religions but also the distinction between real Biblical Christianity and its many perversions. Christianity is not only the way to God; it is primarily the way of God down to man. There is only one such way.”
So the sinner is left with just two options.
- Try to save yourself through good works, church or mosque attendance.
- Or trust in the finished work of a perfect sinless Saviour, and now live with full peace and assurance that Christ has redeemed you from your sins.
Reader, the choice is yours. Jesus or Muhammad, the Bible or the Koran, salvation by grace or salvation by works? You must decide, and decide you must!
King Jesus
For me, Jesus is not only in a league of His own, for He has thousands of hymns dedicated to Him and sung daily around the globe (Muhammad and Allah have none), but if you type the name Jesus into any search engine, you will discover over 759,000,000 entries come up, whereas Muhammad only generates 142,000,000.
Let us also remember the year in which we are living – 2014. That’s right. Jesus died 2014 years ago (give or take a year or so). There isn’t a civilised nation in the world today that isn’t living in 2014.
Sir Monier Williams: “They all begin with some flashes of light and end in utter darkness. There is a gulf between the Bible and the so-called sacred books of the East which severs the one from the other utterly, hopelessly, and forever a veritable gulf which cannot be bridged over by any science or religious thought.”
Final words
Much of the content from this article dates back to 2004, written primarily from the aspect as to what Islam publicly teaches and states about itself. This, of course, is their right and as such, I have reflected on this, and along the way have used verses from the King James Bible to refute their claims and aspersions, especially when it comes to the person and nature of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Recently, however, I embarked on some new research into Islam, after having a fruitful discussion with some Islamic gentlemen on the streets of my town, as they were distributing free Korans and booklets.
Of course, no real middle ground could be established between us and them, for they deny the Lordship of Jesus and His blood atonement for our sins, choosing rather to follow a man they called Muhammad, which history now questions if he even existed.
My new research resulted in some fascinating points, how the Koran was probably written by a man called Abdul Malik, who not only didn’t know Muhammad but was born after he died.
Also, the Hadith, Islam’s second holy book, was penned over 200 years after Muhammad died, and like the Koran, is based solely on oral traditions, by men who for the most part also didn’t know Muhammad.
Without getting into speculation as to the motive of Abdul Malik and others in his intimate circle, when it came to their successful launch of a new religion, I feel it only justified for open-minded history students, and especially members of the Islam religion to seriously evaluate their religion and beliefs, in line with the word of God; for the latter came first, and has been proven time after time to be completely authentic and trustworthy.
Some have even suggested Islam was created by the catholic church, but this is also speculation and difficult to prove. What we can say for sure is that Islam and its teachings are antichrist, through and through, and therefore totally illegitimate in the eyes of God!
But let’s just say for argument’s sake that Islam is 100% authentic, along with Christianity: while both can be wrong, both cannot be correct, for the laws of logic are transcultural. However, if one was forced to choose whether to follow Jesus or Muhammad, I believe the final part of this article with help you, the reader, to decide.
Muhammad’s dying words were: “Lord, destroy all the Jews and the Christians…Gabriel come close to me” (A Sprenger, Das Leben und die Lehre des Mohammad, Berlin 1861, Vol. III, p. 211-522).
The Lord Jesus nailed naked to a Roman cross after six painstaking hours, cried out: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).
So, may I ask, which is your preferred role model and which one would you be willing to trust your eternal soul to?
