Soldier Outside The Palace – How To Become a Christian
Picture yourself as a foot soldier posted outside Buckingham Palace, London where you’ve been stationed for 15 long years. Each day you stand to attention and proudly salute her Majesty the Queen whenever her official car arrives or exits the Palace. You know of the Queen but does she know of you (is she even aware of you?) Sadly, you’ve never had the honour and personal privilege of being introduced to her.
Then one day her personal secretary walks over to you and says: “Her Majesty would very much like to meet you.” You immediately walk with him, and for the first time in 15 years, you have gone from knowing of her to knowing her personally. She says to you: “How wonderful it is to meet you. If you ever need anything from me, please do not hesitate to contact me directly, on my private landline or even on my mobile, any time of the day or night, I will not be offended.”
From this day on, you will never need to go through her private secretary or anybody else again. She is there whenever you need her. Guaranteed!
This brief analogy goes a little way I think into explaining how it was for me. I knew of the Lord during my years as a practising Catholic but I had never been properly introduced to Him. I believe this is the same for all Roman Catholics throughout the world, and perhaps many areas of Christendom too. I would also include the assorted body of cults as well, for they deliberately deprive their ignorant congregations of ever experiencing a one-on-one personal relationship directly with Jesus. However, for organised religions like the Catholic church, their congregations only know of God through their church and so-called ‘priestly mediators.’ If no priest is available, then nobody else can perform the mass for them: no priest, no mass, no salvation.
The Bible, however, declares that there is only one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5).
There is no need for anyone to ever go through a third party again.
So why not humbly present yourself to Jesus today and start a new personal and loving relationship with Him, for you’re not promised the next breath? And please remember, 150,000 people, die suddenly each day, throughout the world, with most dying in their sins, and being forever lost, in Hell!
What is sin?
The Bible warns us that if you have ever told a lie, you are a liar, and therefore all liars will end up in the lake of fire, which lasts forever (Rev. 21:8); that no thief can enter into the Kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6.10.); to lust after another person is the same as adultery (Matt. 5.27,28); and to call someone a fool or just have unjust anger is the same as murder (1 John 3:15).
What now?
You must be born again. This can only happen when a truly sorry sinner believes on Jesus Christ as their own personal Saviour, who died on the cross for their sins and after three days, God raised Him from the dead. By trusting in His precious blood alone to save you, you won’t go to Hell when you die but Heaven.
After you have done this, you should get a King James Bible and read it each and every day. Start by reading the Gospel of John, Genesis and the Psalms. Within six months you will have read the entire Bible. Once you have, start over again, but this time start in 1 Thessalonians, then go to the Proverbs and then Exodus.
Pray as you read the Scriptures, asking God to open your eyes and ears to understand His word, and for Him to show you what His will is for you and your life. As you grow in grace, He will build you up to the person He wants you to eventually become.
Any spare time that you have can be used to meditate on His word, tell others how He has saved you from your sins, and how they too must be born again.
